On Exhibition

I've been a bit quiet here lately but some new work has been happening behind the scenes - more about that soon!

Meanwhile a few of my books have been travelling to exhibitions.  Bloom is included in Bookworks 2014 at the Skylight Gallery in the San Francisco Public Library, San Francisco USA as part of the Pacific Center for the Book Arts Exhibition to be held from 21 June to 6th September 2014.

The other day I received the catalogue of the Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here exhibition that was held at the Center for Book Arts in New York  last year and included my book Absence.  This exhibition has now opened at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, Rochester, New York, USA from 2 June to 2 September 2014.  It's always great when your books just keep travelling and appearing in exhibitions!

Paper, Scissors, Uluru is a collaborative book I made last year with Jack Oudyn.  It's just had an outing at the Art on Show Awards at Mackay in Queensland, presented by the Mackay Show Association from 16 - 19 June 2014.  It was exhibited in the Artspace Mackay Artist Book Award section.

A new home

The Libris Awards at Artspace Mackay have recently finished and I was delighted to learn that the Mackay Regional Council had decided to acquire my entry, The River City: Eyewitness Document for the collection at Artspace Mackay.

I love it when my books don't return because they have found a new home!

Highlights: Libris Awards 2006-2010

Entries are open until 22 March for the 2013 Libris Awards to be held at Artspace Mackay and this year the main prize is a $10,000 Acquisitive Prize. Details are available on the Artspace Mackay website.  The Libris Awards exhibition will take place from 10 May to 30 June.

Artspace Mackay have a new exhibition in the Cox Rayner Gallery from 8 February to 23 June which was curated from the Mackay Regional Collection and features prize winning entries and purchases from past Libris Awards.

I was fortunate to have my book Time Travel purchased by Michael Wardell from the 2010 Libris Awards and it is on display in this exhibition.

I made the book in 2009 after a trip to the Pyrenees and south of France/Northern Spain and I really felt like I was travelling back into the past.  The pictures I used in the book were manipulated photos and cutouts that come from a number of  locations such as the medieval walled village of Villefranche le Conflent

The citadel at Besancon

St John Pied de Port

Bayonne

Those famous mountains that feature in the Tour De France, Col de Tourmalet and Mont Ventoux

Pamplona in Spain

and a little port near Bilbao in Spain called Mutriku

It was a wonderful trip and it's great to have this book as a permanent reminder.
